Poor Man's Steak

Hungry for a steak dinner but wishing for something cheap? Try out this recipe for a different twist on steaks! Poor Man's Steak pairs perfectly with fluffy mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. Drizzle creamy mushroom sauce over potatoes and you will have a delicious, comforting, old-fashioned dinner.
Directions
"Steak" Ingredients
- 2 lbs. Ground Beef
- 1 1/2 cup saltine crackers, crushed
- 1 cup Milk
- 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp. onion seasoning
- 1 clove Garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. Celtic Sea Salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 cup of Einkorn Wheat Flour for dredging (or more if needed)
- 2 tbsp. Butter
- 2 tbsp. Olive oil
Mushroom Sauce
- 4 cups Mushroom Soup... here's a recipe to make your own
- 1 1/2 cup Milk
- 1 tbsp. dried parsley
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9 x 13 glass baking dish with butter.
- Whisk mushroom sauce ingredients together in a small bowl and set aside.
- Combine first 9 "steak" ingredients in another bowl and mix well.
- Shape into even sized patties.
- Pour flour into a shallow bowl and season with more salt and pepper.
- Dredge patties on both sides till well coated.
- Heat a large skillet on medium-high and add butter and oil.
- Sear patties on both sides till golden brown.
- Place patties in a single layer in the baking dish.
- Pour gravy evenly over the patties.
- Cover with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 30-40 min.
Cook's tip: To dress up this dish even more, add shredded cheese to the ground meat!
