Bees are simply marvelous.

They take nutrition from the heart of a beautiful flower and turn it into pure, golden goodness for us to enjoy in the form of honey.

Recently I was privileged to spend time with our beekeeper as he checked hives and pulled a bit of fall honey. His wealth of knowledge on holistic bee care was fascinating.

I'll do my best to share the experience with you today. :)

But before I get started, I want to make one thing clear: We never use stock photos to represent our animals.

Yes, the pictures are near pro level since most of our family does enjoy photography as a hobby, but they are always real pictures of our own animals. These bees you see on this post are literally the bees that provide you with our holistic honey... I know, because I took the photos! :)

I mention this now because a new customer recently asked if our farm photo gallery was just stock photos... No indeed, my friend!

----------------------------------------------------

Now on to the story of our holistic honey and some of those real photos I was talking about!

The important thing is to keep the bees happy and healthy so they can do their work well. Our beekeeper, Lamar, and his daughter are busy checking on the hives to be sure everything is in order.

Each hive must be opened and a few of the frames carefully pulled. Lamar is examining the colony health overall and looking for extra honey that's ready to be collected.

The bees on this frame all look good!

Our bee hives are surrounded by organic farmland and wildflower meadows so the bees always have plenty of clean pollen and pure nectar nearby to forage for their colony.

Even more importantly, our bees are never exposed to the chemical miticides commonly used in industrial beekeeping.

Synthetic miticides like Amitraz may build up in wax and leave residue in honey... Not good for bees or people!

If mites attack one of our colonies, we fight back with organic formic acid which is naturally present in honey already. This way we can stop the mites without hurting the bees or affecting the purity of our holistic honey. :)

See, it’s not just people who appreciate our holistic commitment... The bees are happy too!

Here one comes in for landing with a bountiful harvest of pollen! Doesn't she almost seem to be smiling?

Heavy with honeycomb and dripping with honey – this frame is ready for the fall harvest of golden delight you've been waiting on!

Fresh liquid honey jars are back in stock now and 60 lb. honey buckets should be here next week. Smoothly crystalized cappings honey is also available and I believe it's better than ever before. See more details in the cappings honey description for how this particular blend of honey reduces allergy symptoms!

In short, Holistic beekeeping respects God's design for bees to harvest nectar from the heart of flowers and transfer the various healing properties to us in the delightful form of Holistic Honey.

As stewards of His creation, we care for the bees in their role and do our best to protect them from man-made Chemicals & GMOs.

You deserve pure honey the way God intended it to be eaten.

Our Raw Holistic Honey is never heated, filtered, or diluted with water. You get all the live whole-food enzymes, vital nutrients, and immunity-building bits of pollen and propolis in this honey as a natural gift from the bees.

We never give our bees high-fructose corn syrup to boost honey production or to feed them cheaply during the winter. The only thing they eat is real honey from real flowers.

There is so much more that could be said... I hope to write again soon with details on the various types of honey from different flowers, the health benefits they offer, and how our real honey compares to pasteurized, pressure-filtered, industrial honey.

Thanks again for choosing to support our farm.

We count it a privilege to provide you with clean, nutrient-dense foods your family can eat with confidence. :)

Blessings on your day,

Wesley

Ground Breaking News at Family Cow farm!

After 3 long years of planning, today we literally have ground breaking news to share with you all! :) The temporary 'reefer trailers' we've been using as our Family Cow facilities since 2008 will finally be replaced by an actual building! We are thankful for how well our 'reefers' served us for the last 17 years, but it's past time for this improvement!

Behind the Scenes Video of Order Packing

Good morning friends, Today I have a quick video to show you Behind the Scenes Order Packing at The Family Cow farm! The morning work starts at 5:00 so it's often still dark this time of year... but that doesn't keep everyone from arriving promptly to get your food on the way. Watch now to see how we prepare food each week to go from our family farm to the 54 Pickup Locations across PA so you can get real, clean foods delivered to your community. It's our pleasure to do it for you! :) This footage was shot earlier this year, but I thought now would be a good time to show you what a busy packing morning looks like during the holiday season! We've been scrambling (literally) to get all the orders out the door some mornings... Hopefully before long we can do an expansion project and give us more workspace here at the farm so the packing area isn't so crowded! :) All the best of food and blessings. Your farmer, Wesley

Family Picture Night 2024

It's been two years since our last pasture picture, as our family calls them. Since then, our family has grown by five, so I believe it's high time! But first, just a little nostalgia...
