Introducing Fava Bean Microgreens! We just call them Fava Shoots because that's a mouthful. And with the flavor, nutrients, minerals, phytochemicals and enzymes that these pack you may just want a mouthful!
"These are rich in b vitamins including folate (B-9, natural form of folic acid) which help metabolize carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Folate is essential for the body to make DNA, RNA, and metabolise amino acids, which are required for cell division. As humans cannot make folate, it is required from the diet, making it an essential vitamin
" Fava Shoots are rich in vitamin C, K and provides a full spectrum of minerals such as iron, copper, manganese, potassium, phosphorus, selenium, calcium and magnesium.
" They are also rich in phytonutrients such as isoflavone and plant sterols which have been shown to lower cholesterol.
" Fava shoots contain levodopa, the same chemical in medicines used to treat Parkinson's disease.
As far as flavor goes, when compared to the Sunflower and Speckled Pea Microgreens these are the best of both worlds. Fava Shoots have a similar nutty flavor and crisp, crunchy texture of Sunflower Microgreens with more leafy greens atop, while also sharing a bit of the sweet pea flavor without the fibrous strings of the Speckled Pea Shoots. With the great taste and nutritional density of the Fava Shoots, we are confident you will enjoy these piled high on a sandwich or quesadilla, mixed into a salad, snuck into a smoothie, or like our kids do… by themselves or dipped in ranch.
