Good morning Family Cow tribe!
We are excited to announce that The Family Cow Raw Milk is now 100% A2A2!
This Full A2A2 status for our herd of Jersey cows has been a work in progress for over 10 years.
Finally, it is now official... Every one of our cows has been genetic tested and verified to be only producing milk with the healthy and easy-to-digest A2A2 beta-casein protein!
So what's the big deal with A2A2?
The key difference between A2A2 milk and A1A1 milk comes down to a single change in the beta-casein protein. As explained by agricultural scientist Dr. Keith Woodford in his book Devil in the Milk, this genetic difference affects how milk is digested. When A1 beta-casein is broken down by the digestive system, it releases a potentially harmful opioid, BCM-7.
Dr. Woodford brings together over 100 scientific studies that show a link between BCM-7 in A1 milk and serious illnesses such as heart disease, Type 1 diabetes, autism, Crohn's disease, and schizophrenia.
Because A2A2 milk does not release BCM-7 during digestion, many who struggle with A1 milk can tolerate A2A2 milk much better.
In short, A2A2 milk is the original milk humans consumed for thousands of years. It avoids the BCM-7 issue entirely, making it gentler on the gut and closer to what God designed. :)
This is why we have carefully selected only A2A2 bulls for breeding purposes for the last 10 years. We wanted to offer you Raw Milk from a fully tested and verified herd of 100% A2A2 Jerseys!

Our Jersey cows have always given us predominately A2A2 milk with only a few A1A2 cows that kept us from reaching this goal. Our milk was never like the A1A1 grocery store milk, but it's still exciting to have achieved the full 100% A2A2 status now. 😊
We crossed the finish line last year but decided to save the big announcement for a special start to 2026. And this is not the only exciting news we have in store for coming weeks... stay tuned.
Our family and team counts it a pleasure to bring you this clean, regeneratively pastured, nutritious milk just as if you had your own family cow producing fresh raw milk in your own meadow. 😋
All the best of food and blessings,
Wesley

P.S. Along with the milk itself, our Butter, Cream, Yogurt, Cottage Cheese and Sour Cream is also fully A2A2 and ready for you to enjoy. The raw cheese is 95% A2A2 but with our aging process it will take a little longer until all cheeses have reached the full A2A2 status.
After writing today's post I came across this quote from Dr. Sina McCullough. I thought you might enjoy it as well...
"A1 casein can also be problematic if you have gluten sensitivity or celiac disease because A1 casein looks structurally similar to gluten. Through a process called molecular mimicry, the body gets confused and can’t tell the difference between A1 casein and gluten.
When that occurs, the body identifies A1 casein as a foreign invader, like it would gluten, which can initiate an inflammatory immune response in the body. Consequently, if you have gluten sensitivity or celiac disease and you consume A1 casein, it can trigger disease as though you had consumed gluten."
